People magazine has named Patrick Dempsey as the 2023 Sexiest Man Alive. The actor, known for roles in 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Bridget Jones', takes the coveted annual title with his rugged good looks and charm. 

Dempsey, 58, said he was "shocked but honored" to be picked as People's sexiest man. The father-of-three said his family brought him down to earth to stop him getting a big head. He follows previous winners including John Legend, Channing Tatum, and last year's pick Chris Evans.

With his famous grey hair and sparkling blue eyes, Dempsey has long been a heartthrob since his career launched in the 1980s. He's been married to makeup artist Jillian Dempsey since 1999. She said she still swoons over his sexy smile after all these years. "Patrick takes such good care of himself, he looks incredible at any age," she said.

The actor told People he keeps grounded from the ups and downs of Hollywood by prioritising family time. Dempsey has three children, aged 18 to 26, with wife Jillian. "My family always reminds me what's important," he said. He also enjoys outdoor hobbies like surfing, cycling and motor racing.

Previous winners of People's annual Sexiest Man Alive include Mel Gibson, Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp. But Dempsey is the oldest celebrity to ever receive the title at age 58. He said he appreciates the recognition more now than when he was younger.

Dempsey credited his wife Jillian for keeping him looking stylish yet sexy. "She's got a great eye and knows how to put an outfit together. I trust her suggestions." He added: "But a good hair and makeup person doesn't hurt either!"

The actor is proud of how he's aged. "I like getting older and maturing," said Dempsey. "You stop caring as much about outside validation and start appreciating the simple things more." He plans to celebrate his Sexiest Man Alive status by taking his wife on a tropical vacation.
